We’ve appointed a new corporate fundraiser to help generate support from the Barnsley business community.
Simon Atkinson, who lives in Monk Bretton, has joined our fundraising team following 14 years as senior sales executive at commercial radio station Dearne FM.
His responsibilities include securing corporate sponsorship for our events, devising and implementing fundraising initiatives and helping businesses meet their corporate and social responsibility (CSR) objectives.
Here at the Hospice our fundraising team has to raise over £2m a year to care for patients – in addition to £1.6m funding from the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
Simon said: “Barnsley businesses trusted me with their advertising needs for 15 years and I’m hoping to use those relationships to generate support for the hospice. Working for the charity is everything I’d hoped for and more – it’s so motivating to come to work every day and see the difference that people’s fundraising support makes.”
We provide specialist care for anyone in the borough with a life-limiting illness, including cancer, motor neurone disease and heart disease. It has ten beds for inpatient care and provides day care at the on-site Limes Support and Therapy Centre.
Our income generation manager at Sue Miller said: “We rely heavily on support from the Barnsley business community and have some long-standing relationships with fantastic corporate partners. Simon’s appointment will help us nurture them and forge new partnerships that will generate even more support. He is already proving to be a real asset to the fundraising team.”
