Staff at the Cheapside branch of national jewellers Beaverbrooks have shown their support for the Hospice with a donation of £700.
The funding comes from the Beaverbrooks Charitable Trust, set up by the retailer to enable employees to support their local charities.
The donation will help us provide specialist care for anyone in Barnsley with a life-limiting illness, including cancer, motor neurone disease and heart disease.
Kelly Wood, branch manager, said: “We wanted to give our donation to Barnsley Hospice because it’s such a fantastic local charity and the support and care it delivers to people is amazing. Myself and a colleague visited to hand over our donation and we were taken aback by such a beautiful, calm and relaxing place.
“The Hospice means a lot to us all in some way or another and we feel privileged to have the opportunity to support somewhere so special in the heart of Barnsley.”
Our grants, trusts and legacies fundraiser Janet O’Hara said: “We are absolutely delighted that the Cheapside staff very kindly nominated the Hospice to receive this generous funding from the Beaverbrooks Charitable Trust.
“We rely heavily on donations from lots of different sources, and grants from charitable trusts can help towards our general running costs or be used to fund a specific project or piece of specialist equipment.”
Donations from grants, trusts and legacies help us raise the £2.2m it needs each year to care for patients and their families. A further £1.6m is provided by the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
Louise Kelly, who works at Beaverbrooks Cheapside, added: “My aunt and best friend’s mum both stayed at Barnsley Hospice and it’s such a peaceful and dignified place – just lovely for families to visit in such tough circumstances.”
