Put your best foot forward and join us on our Midnight Walk
We’re encouraging women in Barnsley to put their best foot forward for the hospice.
We are hosting our twelfth Midnight Walk with a ‘Night at the Circus’ theme on Saturday 22 September.
The walk will begin at the stroke of midnight at Horizon Community College. Walkes can choose to complete a five or ten-mile route of the town centre and surrounding areas, before finishing back at the college to tuck into a well-earned bacon butty.
Participants can look forward to circus performers and carnival games and there will be a special dedication screen where they can display their own personal message in memory of a loved one.
The ‘Night at the Circus’ Midnight Walk will provide a vital source of income for the charity, which has to raise over £2m a year – in addition to £1.6m funding from the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
Martyn Hughes, events fundraiser at Barnsley Hospice, said: “We’re encouraging as many ladies as possible to get together with friends and colleagues and put their best foot forward.
“Whether you’re walking in memory of a friend or loved one, taking part as a way of keeping fit or just doing something a little bit different on a Saturday night, you’ll help raise vital funds for the hospice which will make such a difference to patients and families.”
Registration for ‘Night at the Circus’ Midnight Walk costs £15 for adults or £8 for under-16s, which covers the cost of staging the event. Walkers are asked to raise as much as they can in sponsorship.
The hospice will be holding a coffee morning on Saturday 18 August from 11am-2pm where participants will be able to pick up their walker numbers and pre-order merchandise.
The fundraiser is sponsored by XPO Logistics. Although the walk is for women only, the hospice is looking for volunteers of both sexes to support the event by marshalling along the route.
