Barnsley Hospice held their annual Golf Day fundraiser at Silkstone Golf Club on Friday 10 May, with the 22 participating teams helping to raise an incredible £10,529 in support of patient care.
Part of the hospice’s annual fundraising calendar, this year’s Golf Day held special significance, marking 30 years of providing outstanding palliative and end of life care to the Barnsley community.
Simon Atkinson, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Barnsley Hospice, added, “We’re incredibly proud of the record-breaking £10,529 raised at our 30th Anniversary Charity Golf Day. Thank you to all the players who took part in the event, our sponsors Lifetime, and the amazing local businesses for their continued support. Without all of them, we wouldn’t have been able to make the day a roaring success.”
This fundraiser also marked the 12th year of sponsorship from Lifetime Financial Management, whose support has been incredibly impactful in contributing to the success of the Golf Day event.
Ian Dickinson, CEO at Lifetime said, “As a community, we are incredibly proud and grateful to Barnsley Hospice for the compassionate care they provide. We’re delighted to support their sponsorship activities and see the funds raised go towards vital patient care.”
The 18 holes were followed by a pie and peas supper, where the raffle was drawn and the winners were announced.
Legacy Financial secured the top spot, with ‘Bogey Pickers’ obtaining second place, and Seaman Herbert & Co in third.
James McGowan, director of Legacy Financial and Barnsley Hospice Trustee said: “The hospice’s annual golf day is the gift that keeps on giving and it is incredible to see the event go from strength to strength each year. Taking home the trophy after five long years of trying is just the icing on the cake.
“It gives me great pride to get involved and raise funds for Barnsley Hospice as both a Trustee and a local business owner, and it is a real joy to see what it means to the other participants who attend the fundraiser each year.
“Having had family use the hospice’s services and in my role as a Trustee, I have seen first hand the difference Barnsley Hospice make. Every pound raised is a vital support to the hospice and I want to thank everyone who contributed to this amazing total.”
The success of the 30th Anniversary Golf Day highlights the crucial support of the community and local businesses in ensuring that the hospice continues to deliver outstanding services for the next 30 years.
