’30 Years of Fashion’ raises over £6,000 to support hospice

Barnsley Hospice hosted a special fashion-focused event on 15 March, including speciality stalls, pre-loved clothes and a talk from Angela Kelly CVO, fashion designer to the late Queen Elizabeth II and Sunday Times bestselling author.

The event was attended by nearly 150 stylish supporters and through tickets, clothes sales and donations, the day raised a total of £6,419 to support the specialist palliative and end of life care the hospice provides to local people and their loved ones.

Speaking on the event, Angela Kelly CVO said “I was delighted to be the Guest Speaker at Barnsley Hospice’s ‘30 Years of Fashion’ event last weekend and share stories from my career and advice on dressing well with attendees. It was great to hear that such a total had been raised from the wonderful afternoon, and I hope it will make a big difference to the hospice and its services.”Speaking on the event,

Vicky Stead, Community Relationships Manager at Barnsley Hospice, said: “Having not held a fundraising event like this in five years, we were over the moon to receive so much interest in ‘30 Years of Fashion’ and to see so many familiar and new faces on the day. Thank you to everyone who joined us, your support means so much to us and makes such a difference.

“Events like this simply wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of local businesses who donate their time and services. We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to the team at Newsome’s Funeral Directors for sponsoring this event. Also, to K3 Cosmetic Dental Studio, Holiday Inn Barnsley, LoveLily Florist and Wedding Supplies, Daniel Berry Photography and Bespoke Balloons Barnsley for making the day so special and helping us raise such an incredible total.”
