Can we lean on you?
As we celebrate 30 years of providing care and support to the people of Barnsley, we have worked with local musician, Tom Masters to create a special anniversary song.
By sharing this song, we hope to raise awareness of our services, whilst generating vital income to ensure our services are here for many more years to come. Every donation we receive makes a huge difference. We are a charity and must raise around £3.5 million every year to provide our vital hospice services.
We hope you take a moment to listen to this song and feel proud of the outstanding hospice our community has access to. After all, it is your hospice and we simply would not be here without the generosity of others. Please show your support and donate today.
As a nurse, I think the lyrics of this song perfectly describe what the hospice means to local people. If life gets too hard to handle, or you feel too tired to go on – we are here for you.
I’m asking everyone reading this message or listening to the song to make a donation to Barnsley Hospice, and ensure we can continue providing our services for many more years to come.
Becky, Head of Clinical Services and Quality Matron
As you may not be familiar with some of the faces featured in the video, we’d like to introduce you to some of the staff and volunteers who play vital roles in making Barnsley Hospice what it is.
Elaine Fundraising Volunteer
“I would say to anyone thinking about volunteering or fundraising, do it! Without that help, we all know the hospice would not exist – it’s as simple as that. I can certainly recommend volunteering, because the social aspect is also brilliant.”
Chris Complementary Wellbeing Therapist
“I’m passionate about explaining what the hospice does. Of course, there are tears sometimes but there’s also lots and lots of laughter and lots of fun. Anybody who even thinks about supporting us I want to say a big thank you because without you, we couldn’t support people who are in their most vulnerable, whether that’s family members or patients going through a diagnosis. Every penny raised helps our staff to be there for the Barnsley public.”
Sue Catering
“Having worked at the hospice since its opening 30 years ago, I’ve seen it change and grow into what it is today. I feel so proud to be part of the difference it makes to the local community and I’ve been lucky to meet and work with so many wonderful people.”
Simon Corporate Partnership Manager
“I’m privileged to walk through the doors every day, I get to meet patients and their loved ones who tell me the difference this place makes to them, I do feel like a small cog in making that happen but I’m really proud to do so. I see on a day-to-day basis the difference it makes.”
Ruth Volunteer Receptionist
” Ruth added, “For anyone considering fundraising or becoming a volunteer for Barnsley Hospice, you will be joining a happy and enthusiastic team supporting an ‘Outstanding’ hospice. Thank you to everyone who is giving their time or has made a donation to Barnsley Hospice. Your support helps the hospice use its resources efficiently and effectively ensuring the continuation of critical patient care and services.”
Lewis e-Retail and Events Person
“It’s amazing to think that buying an item from us or donating a bag of clothes you no longer need could make sure someone has access to specialist care at the most difficult of times… The hub plays a big part in ensuring the hospice can continue its services and getting people to think differently about secondhand fashion.
